Teek and Tom Animated Series Premiere

ISS is proud to be a part of the NOAA Ocean Today program that has been making waves with its innovative approach to educating audiences about the wonders of the ocean. With over 360 educational videos available for free on their website, Ocean Today has been inspiring curiosity and fascination in viewers worldwide. Now, they’re taking their mission to new heights with the launch of their first fully animated series starring characters extraterrestrial Teek and his Earth-dwelling friend, Tom.

We would like to recognize the outstanding efforts of our NOAA NOS CED Team. Led by Kurt Mann, Studio Lead (Producer), this is the most ambitious media project for Ocean Today to date. Their small but powerful ISS team includes Jed Winer, Technical Manager, Rob Levy, Supervisory Studio Project Manager, and Kurt Mann. The project would not have been possible without the efforts of Laura Crombe, ISS Technical Manager – Video Editing, and Reese Bland, our Studio Videographer, who is the voice of Teek and Tom’s Bary.

What sets this animated series apart is its unique focus on exploring the intricate relationship between the ocean, weather, and climate. Geared towards 4th through 7th-grade students, “Teek and Tom Explore Planet Earth” delves into topics such as how the ocean influences weather patterns, the impact of wild weather extremes, and the role of NOAA in monitoring and understanding our changing planet.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! In April 2024, Ocean Today will be premiering the animated series with a special event at the NOAA Auditorium in the Silver Spring Metro Campus. Whether you join us in person or virtually, you’ll be treated to a red-carpet experience complete with a screening of the series, an interactive panel discussion with the creators and cast members, and fun activities for all ages.
