Happy Earth Day! ISS is very proud to support NOAA in their pursuit of better understanding, conservation, and sustainable capitalization of the natural resources on Earth. ISS has supported NOAA’s understanding through life cycle analysis and planning for Earth observation systems since 2016 with the building, and subsequent maintenance and analysis of the U.S. Earth Observation Requirements Evaluation System (EORES). Our team not only provides analysis and lifecycle planning with this relational database, but gathers and inputs new information to maintain a comprehensive view of U.S. Earth Observing Systems. Our team recently transitioned the relational database to the AWS cloud and is actively working to improve the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service System Architecture Engineering’s efficiency and effectiveness as the EORES system approaches its 10th anniversary. If you’d like to learn more about the systems that monitor our planet take a look at this tableau interactive dashboard supported by EORES! Again, happy Earth Day; and if you were ever curious how an extraterrestrial might see the Earth, check out the premier of our National Ocean Service Communications and Education Division team’s animated series “Teek and Tom!”
